Hi and welcome to the preparation page for the second workshop. You need to make sure that you watch all of the videos, complete any exercises you have been asked to in the videos, and complete your peer response requirements. More information about how we group peer review and what we expect can be found on the workflow pages in CANVAS. (The master´s thesis pages for CSE have been moved to CANVAS., but this particular page about preparation for the seminars is still in use during 2019).

Passive voice and nominalisation
You will notice that in the videos we refer to a few exercises you need to do before the workshop. These exercises are listed below. Bring the completed exercises to class and be prepared to discuss your answers:
This sentence structure exercise involves you proof-reading for run-on sentences, and then again for fragmented sentences. This involves identifying sentence construction errors, and offering solutions for how one might fix them.
These exercises involves working with passive/active voice, nominalization, and relative clauses. The first exercise requires you to change the sentences from active voice to passive voice. The second involves re-writing the sentences using nominalizations. Finally, you have a series of sentences which you need to proof read specifically for issues related to the relative clauses. Again, identify the error and offer a suggestion for revision.
